WEST COXSACKIE Merton W. Oles, 65, entered eternal peace on August 27, 2004. Mert spent many years working in the construction trade and had retired from New York State. He loved his family and was active in golf and darts. His passion was hunting as he found the woods his peaceful place. He loved his faithful dogs, PJ and Cloey. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gail Pittman Oles. His memory will forever be cherished by his children, Jonathan and companion Erin, Kristen and companion Craig, Scott Oles and Sandra Oles. He was a loving grampy to Abigail Oles. He was a tender and loving caregiver for his mother-in-law, Mildred Shove. He is survived by his brother, John Oles and his wife Paulette; sisters, Joan Traver and husband Don, Betty Rothrock and husband Roland, Lynn Pittman; sister-in-law, Jeanie Oles. His brother, Robert predeceased him. He was the long time friend of Roger Wood. Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Tuesday, August 31 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Relatives and friends are invited to say goodbye at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.
