RAVENA George F. Sorell, 76, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, April 10, 2005. George was born July 4, 1928, son of the late George J. and Sara Sorell. He worked as a clerk 14 years for the former NY Central Railroad, seven years with St. Peter's Hospital and retired in 1990 after 20 years with NYS Department of Education. Survivors include his wife, Eva Hamlin Sorell of Ravena; children Deborah Riley of Latham and Jeffrey G. Sorell of Rensselaer; sister, Mary Louise Muller of Ravena; grandchildren, Michael Riley, Connie Sorell, Amy Sorell, Jeffrey Sorell and Shawn Riley; great-grandchildren, Ryan Sorell-Baritell, Timothy S. Riley and Damien Riley. George was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Hamlin; grandson, Steven Riley. Funeral services will be held 9:30 Wednesday morning April 13 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions, in memory of George, may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main Street, Ravena, NY 12143.
