RAVENA Nicholas F. Place, 72, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 14, 2005. Nicholas was born in Utica, son of the late Frank and Camille Place. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He had worked for the former New York Central, Penn Central Railroads and retired in 1990 after many years of service with Conrail. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Survivors include his wife Margaret Place of Ravena; sister, Camille (Edward) Pilawa; brother, Frank J. (Mary Jane) Place; nieces, Lynne (Douglas) Jackson, Laurie A. Salerno and Rene (Andre) Kallay; nephew, Edward Pilawa; grandnephews, Nicholas Jackson and Kristopher Kallay; and grandnieces, Kym and Kady Salerno and Kayla Kallay. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Entombment will be in St. Patrick's Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Nicholas may be made to St. Patrick's Church or to the American Heart Association.
