SLINGERLANDS Daniel Thomas Whyte, 73, formerly of Ravena, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Friday, May 6, 2005. He was the son of the late Daniel and Alberta Whyte. Daniel was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired in 2000 after 48 years working in the insurance claims industry. He was a former member of the Mother McCauley Council 3424 Knights of Columbus in Ravena. He enjoyed his home and family and was an avid Giants fan. One of his greatest pleasures was reading joke books and expertly retelling the jokes. Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Coppola Whyte of Slingerlands; children, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Seay of Voorheesville, Thomas Patrick (Cindy) Whyte of Esperance, Rev. Michael Whyte of Conn., Bridget (Nathan) Brown of Altamont and Kathryn Whyte of Slingerlands; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jack Seay, Courtney, Molly and Emma Brown; and sister, Ellen Patricia Whyte of Catskill; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Daniel was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Joan Anderson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Albany. Entombment will be in St. Patrick's Mausoleum in Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Monday, May 9, 4-7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Daniel may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
