RAVENA Maxine E. LaRose, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2003 peacefully after a long illness. At her side were her children, Kathi, Dennis and Sherrie with Jesse the therapy dog providing comfort to all. Born in Powder Springs, Ga., to Harvey Lee Mobley and Savannah Klontz Mobley. Her mother, Savannah passed away when Maxine was five years old. Her father remarried Elizabeth Scott Mobley who became a loving stepmother to her. Maxine and her husband owned and operated Ed's Diner in Ravena until his death in 1976. She loved reading, bowling, music and baking, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She traveled home to Powder Springs as often as she could and was very proud of her Southern heritage. Survivors include her children, Dennis (Christine) LaRose of Ravena, Sherrie (Frederick) Grober of Selkirk, Kathleen (Jeffery) Palmer of Coeymans Hollow; daughter-in-law, Jean LaRose Becker of Coeymans Hollow; grandchildren, Russell, Mark, Wendy, Sherrie, Patricia, Natalie, James, Elizabeth, Emily, Adam and Darren; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Stacey, Victoria, Gregory, Angelique, Amanda, B.J., Samantha, Dylan, Arielle and Christina; brothers, Russell (Martha), Allan (Joellen); sister, Sidney (Jack); several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; son, Russell; her brother and his wife, Harvey Lee Mobley and Mary. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the spring. Contributions, in memory of Maxine, may be made to the Ravena Rescue Squad or the Times Union Fund for the Elderly.
