Haskell, John R. SOUTH BETHLEHEM John R. "Jack" Haskell entered eternal life Thursday, November 15, 2007 after a brief illness. Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Alaska during World War II. In 1987 he retired from Callanan Industries after 35 years of service. Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted and supportive person, always there for his family. Jack and his wife Alice enjoyed many trips together including winters in Fla., the Caribbean, Grand Canyon and Switzerland. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Alice Beck Haskell; children, John Reginald (Christina) Haskell, Peter (Carmen) Haskell and Michael (Diane Stanley Brown) Haskell; grandchildren, Carly (John) Glassbrenner, Jesse Jette, Laura Haskell and Nina Haskell; great-grandchildren, Haley and Morgan Glassbrenner; sister, Patricia (John) Rapp; and niece, Gail VanKempen. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, November 18 at the South Bethlehem United Methodist Church. A gathering of family and friends with beverages and cookies being served will be held at the church after the service to which all are invited. Contributions in memory of Jack may be made to the South Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 65 Willowbrook Ave., South Bethlehem, NY 12161.
