Vasto, Joseph C. RAVENA Joseph C. Vasto, 83, died on December 9, 2007 at the Kaaterskill Nursing Home in Catskill. Joseph was a lifelong resident of Ravena. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1942. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving both in the European and Asiatic theaters and was the recipient of several decorations and citations. He was a member of the VFW Post 9594 and the American Legion. In 1988, Joseph retired from Kemper Insurance. He loved traveling, gardening, photography and computers. He was an avid golfer, loved sports, especially hockey and the NY Rangers. Joseph was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Ravena and a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Bricoccoli Vasto of Ravena; son, Gregory (Victoria) Vasto of Ohio; granddaughter, Alicia Vasto of Ohio; brother, Carmin (Janet) Vasto of Ravena; uncle, Sam Vasto of Fla.; aunt, Jane Aluise of Albany; several cousins and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Friday, December 14 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. Contributions in memory of Joseph may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main St., Ravena, NY 12143.
