Margaret & David, Jim and I were so sorry to read about your Dad. We have known your parents for over 30 years and we remember every summer as your Dad would back the trailer in the yard and your Mom would be cleaning an already clean cottage at the Cape. We would sit at the beach all day talking about our children and then our grandchildren. I do miss my daily talks with your Mom. Ray was a special person with a wonderful sense of humor and love for his family and friends. Jim and I want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we love you both. Mal

David and Margaret and family:

I just heard of your Dad's passing. I loved the time when you lived next door to us. Your parents were the best and I will never forget them.
They were just very special people who welcomed us as their new neighbors...I remember your mom inviting me in for coffee and your dad leaning on the fence making sure all was well with me and the kids.
I remember you two babysitting my kids who are now grown and I wonder where the time went.

Well, a person has lived a good life if they leave behind many people who miss them and love them and whose lives they've touched in so many ways, and Ray certainly did that.

God bless you all.

Daddy, I miss you so much! We always had a good relationship, but it became so much more when we were able to work together. I will always treasure those times. If only they could have been longer. I was always so proud of being your son. I am even more proud of you now after watching you deal with death. I only hope I will be as strong as you were. My heart is broken and I feel all alone, but I know that I am not. You are watching over me and all your family just as you did before. You and Ray Jr. will finally be able to hug again since he passed.
Remember when you gave us rides in the REO, they were a kids dream. The ambulance rides were the best, to think this is my Dad.
You are at peace now and finally able to sleep. You used to say that, "I'll be able to sleep when I'm dead" now you can and don't feel bad. Things down here will get done because you taught us all how to get things done. Michele will remember coming home not sure if there would be anything left or not. Nicholas always watched out for Poppy's truck and I have never seen a child smile so big when he saw you coming. My face and heart would light up when I saw your face smile and light up at him. His memories may be hidden in his young age but I am very glad he had them all the same. Michele and I will do our best to keep those memories alive and strong in him.
I am glad that we had the time together to learn who we were and how much respect we had for each other. You taught me many things that I don't think you even tried to. The silly ways you would joke with the kids, always got them going. Nicholas always got so mad at you when you would call him David on purpose. Then he would give you a Fat hug and all would be good again.
Dad there are so many people with great memories of you and that is the best we can ask for. Your life will never be forgotten because of those fond memories. I look forward to being able to share them with people as long as I live. With much Love and great heartache Your son Joey.

To The Family Of Ray Fish
Ray is the sweetest most gentle caring man anyone could have the pleasure of knowing, He would tell me stories that made me laugh til I cried, I will miss his jokes (I believe he is the only man that ever made me blush). He spoke so much about his family the love that he had and how he needed to get back home to get the grandchildren off the bus, how much he enjoyed that.

daddy,
I saw you for the last time today. it doesn’t seem possible. somehow i thought you would always be here with us. i am so lucky that i got to spend time with you the last few years, we needed to catch up. i just thought we would have more time. i will miss you every day. thank you for everything you did for me and everyone else that ever had the privilege to meet you. you did so many things for so many people. listening to father bradley today in church made me realize that you set a great example for all of us to follow. and we can all make a difference in this world. you taught me how easy it is to make someone smile if you just take the time. from the mailman to the waitress in the diner, you could brighten anyone's day. i will try to follow your path of kindness and generosity.
to my sisters and brothers, i love you all and can’t thank you enough for taking care of daddy. and now i hope we will continue to take care of each other.
to mommy, thank you for being his friend.
be happy

To Margaret, David and all the Fish Family; everyone always says how much of an impact people can leave on others lives. Well your Dad left so much more..he left us with great memories of his laughter and so much of his compassion for life and thoughtfulness. It never mattered in his eyes who you were he always was there in more ways than one to help out. My parents truly treasured his and your moms friendship. We all grew up looking as though we were all family. I am fortunate to be one of the many who knew your Dad for the man he was. We'll always love you Ray; keep an eye on that great family you left here. They were very lucky to have a Dad like you. Thanks for the memories. Love ya Lori Mendel Hart

Poppy , Poppy, Poppy
What an incredible man !! In the18 years we have spent as Father and Daughter in-law, My life has been enriched in ways my words will never express. Your boys (Tyler and David) will be Greater men because of your presence in their life. The girl (Courtney) will be a strong and powerful woman because of your presence. Tommy and Danielle will always remember your unconditional love. In the years before me, I am sure you were a great Dad and a great grandpa and even a great husband, but I have no doubt your are the GREATEST POPPY ever !!! After MiMi passed away you did something I did not think was possible. You took over MiMi s role and made it your own!! You took the hardest time of my kids lives and made it ok. You gave them what NO ONE else could have. They lost so much and I mean so much when MiMi passed . And you became a constant where there would have been no doubt a void for the rest of their lives. They are older now and understand more. Dave and I will not have to keep you alive for them to remember you. You will stay alive in so many things they say and do. I take comfort in knowing when they have children of their own, they will no doubt share stories about their Poppy!!!
With a heavy heart in years to come I will ask you in prayer time and time again,
How do I tell my husband everything is going to be ok? What will I tell my kids the next time they need Poppy? How do I go into your home and cope with the silence? Who will I talk to in the morning? Who will say,” leave my boys alone?” Yes I will even ask…….What will I do the next time Dave cannot fix something. And Most important who will bring my coffee? No need to answer Poppy….I will remind myself that I am blessed for even being able to ask……For everything I have to love and all that love me is because of you… Thank you for my life and know that I will miss you forever!!!

To the Fish family,

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Ray. There are not many men in this world that measure up to him. His thoughtfulness, kindness and good nature have affected the lives of all who came in contact with him. You in my thoughts and prayers.

February 18, 2009

Daddy,

Wow..what do you say to a man who is as special as you. You gave your love unconditionally to everyone...especially your children and grandchildren. For that reason, I will forever be grateful.

People always say that any man can be a father, but it takes a very special man to be a dad. Well let me tell you...you are not just a Dad..You are the Daddy. You are the Man...so I guess that makes you the "Daddy Man"

You have given me so many wonderful memories in my life that it is hard to narrow it down. So here are a few:

I remember getting rides to Blessed Sacrament School in an ambulance. The kids really thought that David and I were cool. The concession stand at Central Babe Ruth, the family vacations to Cape Cod and Aruba.
How about all our backgammon games (I think I was the better player). The Sunday drives with Mommy. We would just get in the car and go. Sometimes we knew where we were going and other times we had no clue. We always had fun though. That party you threw for Mommy. When you threw a party...you THREW a party.
My graduations, my marriage to Terry and the birth of Mackenzie. Your teeth in your pocket, the rubber River Rats in Mommy's pots and your episode with that chipmunk. I will always remember, sitting there watching you trying to catch that darn thing. I don't think you ever did, but you sure had fun doing it. I will remember you pulling into the day care lot to show me your catch of the day "Squirrel". You would take them to Mommy. Daddy, "why are you taking them there" your answer was always the same.."so they can't find there way back to my house". The list could go on and on and on. We had so many wonderful times.

We have had some sad times too. When we lost Ray Jr. and when we lost your love and soul mate Mommy. We stood together and made it through those times. It made us stronger people.

I know that things haven't always been perfect between us, but I know that you Loved me anyway. I was, I am, and I will always be Daddy's Little Girl.

You are in heaven now with Mommy. I would much rather you be here, but I know that you are looking down on us. I'm sure Mommy has already given you a "honey do list"...and you will finish that list with a smile. The same way you finished everything else.

You fought a hard battle and for that I am very proud of you. For all your accomplishments, and for the legacy you have left behind you will always be a hero in my eyes.

Thank you for all the memories, the patience, the guidance and most of all your LOVE!!

Daddy, I Love you and I always will. I know that I have another guardian angel to watch over me and Mackenzie.

Love always,
MARGARET

p.s. please give Ray Jr. and Mommy a big hug and kiss from me.xoxoxoxoxo
