Isabella, Dr. Fred SCHENECTADY Dr. Fred Isabella, 90, of Schaffer Heights, Nott Terrace, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Dr. Isabella was born in Mechanicville to the late Nicola and Rose Miranda Isabella. He lived in Schenectady most of his life. Dr. Isabella was a graduate of the former Mont Pleasant High School, the Albany College of Pharmacy and the University of Buffalo, School of Dentistry. He also attended New York University for post graduate studies. Dr. Isabella served in the Army during World War II. He began his dental practice in 1947 and practiced for over 50 years. He and his late wife Helen were the co-owners of the former F&H Pharmacy. Dr. Isabella was a Schenectady city councilman and a former New York State senator, representing the 44th District. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady, where he was a trustee, lector, Eucharistic minister, usher and member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Schenectady Kiwanis Club for over 60 years, Knights of Columbus, Council 201, Sons of Italy, served on the board of directors for the Schenectady Boys & Girls Club, Third Order of Secular Discalced Carmelites and the 3rd District Dental Society. Dr. Isabella was the dentist for the Carmelite Monastery Nuns, while they were in Schenectady, since 1947. Dr. Isabella is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Helen Sullivan Isabella, she died in 2005; three brothers, Dr. Ralph Isabella, Dr. Ennio Isabella and Dr. Hugo Isabella; one sister, Agnes Eats; and one granddaughter, Michelle Helen Coppola. He is survived by five children, Sharran A. (Peter) Coppola of Schenectady, Frederick S. (Maureen) Isabella of Niskayuna, James M. (Teri) Isabella of Dover, Del., Joseph J. (Karen) Isabella of Rotterdam and Mary F. Isabella of Schenectady; one brother, Edward (Helen) Isabella of Schenectady; seven grandchildren, Frederick Isabella, Jeremy Isabella, Joshua Isabella, Michael Isabella, Laura Isabella, Nicholas Isabella and Nolan Isabella; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will begin Monday morning at 9:15 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady and at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 6:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady.
