John Hulsey Obituary

HULSEY John Chancellor Hulsey, of Jacksonville, died on Monday, August 18, 2014. A native of Jacksonville, he was born on August 16, 1962. John was the youngest of four children of Mark and June Hulsey. He grew up in Ortega and attended St. Mark's Episcopal Day School and graduated from Episcopal High School in 1980. John attended Suwannee, (the University of the South), and transferred to Florida State University, where he graduated with a BS in Business in 1985. He then acquired his MBA from University of North Florida in 1995. He started his banking career with Florida National Bank, which later was acquired by First Union. He then moved Jacksonville Bank, where he worked for 14 years, and most recently worked at Seaside National Bank. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and loving and dedicated wife of 27 years, Wendy Hulsey, and his three beloved children, Mary Blaire, Paige Hardin and John Angus McTammany Hulsey. He is also survived by his oldest brother, Mark Hulsey, and his two sisters, Mary Ellen Brown and Catherine Hulsey. Johns's immense love and compassion for life and everyone he met touched so many people and will live on in our hearts. It is an incomprehensible loss for his family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that John has joined his and Wendy's first born son, John Chancellor, in heaven. Memorial services will be held this Friday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, followed by a reception in Leatherbury Hall. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the St. Mark's Memorial Garden. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

This is all so surreal. John's character and personality were larger than life. He kept us all in stiches - quite the comedian he was. He was the absolute best boss I've ever had. He had my back and always looked out for me. I was lucky to be able to be in touch with him since we both moved on from our previous jobs.
I grew to love Wendy and Blaire, Paige and Angus as if they were part of my family. He and Blaire had the kind of relationship me and my Dad have. I loved watching them together.
This has been a pretty crappy week for a lot of people, but I can only imagine what the family has been and will continue to go through. Wendy, Blaire, Paige, Angus - you have so many people who love you and will be there for you and pray for you daily. I don't want to say all the cliche' things people do, because you never get over a loved one passing. It may get a little easier, but you never get over it. The only hope we have is that we'll see him in Heaven one day, all of us who believe. That's a pretty comforting thing to know. Because it will be nice to see John Hulsey again one day.
Love you guys so much - Janice
