Edgar Wode Obituary

WODE Edgar Wode, 85, passed away December 28, 2013 after a 12-year battle with Parkinson s. He was a native of Bayonne, NJ. He served proudly for 7 years as a member of the NJ State Police before moving to NH to enter the Heavy Equipment Field in Sales. He was transferred to Charleston, WV where he spent the next 33 years. A talented artist and woodworker, Ed spent much of his spare time building furniture. More than anything, Ed enjoyed spending quality time with his family. Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Kathleen; a son, Christopher from Alexandria, VA; daughters, Maureen and Margaret from Charlotte, NC, plus 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 2, 2014 in the chapel of Quinn Shalz Funeral Home with a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Ponte Vedra Beach with Reverend Francesco Iacona as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville for Parkinson's Research.
