Catherine Ann O'Donnell Edwards (Cassie) passed away on September 12, 2018 in Mill Valley, California. Cassie was born in Jacksonville, Florida to John Powers and Catherine Amelia Burke O'Donnell. She was a graduate of Assumption Catholic School and Bishop Kenny High School. She continued her education at Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Following FSU, Cassie utilized her skills and knowledge to build a distinguished career in the healthcare field, including positions at several top hospitals in both Jacksonville and Atlanta, as well as the Center for Disease Control. Later in her career, Cassie channeled her knowledge of nursing and the medical field to support hospitals in their mission to drive automation, specifically focused on medical record documentation.
Cassie's life extended well beyond her professional career. She had a passion for people, family, and helping others. She always placed family above all else. Cassie was a passionate sister to her siblings, a caring wife to her husband Frederick K. Edwards (deceased), and a loving mother to their son Jeff and his wife Megan. She extended this love and dedication to the newest Edwards family members, her granddaughters, Charlotte Adelaide and Caroline Elizabeth Edwards. Cassie made an indelible impression on many lives through the deep friendships she cultivated over her years in Jacksonville, Atlanta, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Whether it was through Kappa Alpha Theta, Junior League, Marist and Stanford football games or church events, Cassie thrived on being involved and helping bring people together. It is this selfless passion that helped her leave such a lasting impact on all that knew her.
Cassie is survived by William J. Edwards (son) and Megan R. Edwards, and their two daughters Charlotte and Caroline Edwards of Mill Valley, CA. She is also survived by her siblings, John Michael O'Donnell (Cynthia), Theresa O'Donnell Price, and Kevin Powers O'Donnell (Renee) as well as a number of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The Rosary will be recited on Friday, October 19th at 6 p.m. and a Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Assumption Catholic Church. A private burial will follow the mass at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Cassie requested that a memorial be made in support of Catholic Charities or a charity of your choice.

Jeff I'm so shocked to hear of your loss. Cassie and I kept in loose touch over the years, but last I'd heard she had just moved out near you - no mention of health problems. We had so much fun during the MARIST years, especially during football season with all the volunteer prep work we did together. Our Marist mom gatherings afterwards were always such a great way to catch up on what each was doing. I'll miss those times with her dry humor. My most sincere condolences.

I met Cassie twice but she made a lasting impression.
She was fun and "tuned-in".
I know she has one hell of a sister in Theresa.
Love and prayers to the Edwards and O'Donnell families.

Jeff, I was so saddened to hear that you lost your sweet mother Cassie. She loved you and your family so much and was so proud of you. I am glad she was out in California with you and that she was able to know your two daughters. We had a lot of fun together during your Marist years. She had a very giving spirit and I know you will miss her. I hope you and Megan are doing well and I will keep you in my prayers.
Love from all the Millers,

To the entire O'Donnell Family I send my heartfelt condolences for the loss of our dear Cassie. Cassie and I spent our youth together and our days of playing together in Empire Point, sleep-overs, class trips, cheerleading and college visits. I will never forget the beautiful memories of the days we spent together. The other night I was able to remember us sitting on the water's edge at the basin and talking about our "lives to be". Our adult lives took us in different directions but we tried to keep up. She was so proud of Jeff and loved her family so deeply. My prayers are with you, Floris "Flo" Fechtel Singletary
