Glenn McLeod Obituary
McLEOD Glenn McLeod, 91, went to his heavenly home on May 1, 2016. He was born on Aug. 4, 1924 in High Springs, FL and never missed a day of school. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Velma, and they were happily married for nearly 60 years. After the war he graduated with honors from the Univ. of FL with an accounting degree. He began his career in the state auditing dept. and in 1969 became a partner of Meek and McLeod. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a CPA and auditor and served such notable clients as WW Gay and Paxson Electric. Remarkably he continued working until he was 89. He played the trumpet in his high school band and his love of 40s jazz music continued throughout his life. He met jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong and Harry James at their concerts. He jogged faithfully for years and loved his cats. He was an avid FL Gator fan. He always enjoyed annual FL/GA parties with family and loved attending his high school reunions. He attended Arlington and San Jose Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and a good, honorable man who will be dearly missed. He was predeceased by his wife Velma and four younger brothers. He is survived by his children Sheryl McLeod, Larry (Suzanne) McLeod, Dr. Darryl (Tamara) McLeod and grandchildren David and Michael McLeod. A memorial service will be held on Sat., May 14 at 11 am at Hardage -Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jax, FL.
