SHOOK Daniel "Garry" Shook passed away January 14, 2009 at his home of 15 years in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born August 29, 1948 in Great Lakes, Illinois. Mr Shook was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and considered Boston his home town. Garry retired from the U.S. Navy in 1995 after 15 years of dedicated service that included serving in both the Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm. He was always proud to have served his country. He also enjoyed the travel afforded him from his time in the Navy and during his childhood with his military family. Mr. Shook was also a member of American Legion Post 283, and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Shook is survived by his wife of 26 years Elaine Weisskopf Shook, their 3 children Matthew (25), Becky (20) Jackson (17), and his mother Mary Garrett of Alberquere, NM all of whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his father Captain Daniel M. Shook M.D., USN, his sisters Dr. Susan G. Shook and Marcia Langerhans. Services have been entrusted to the care of First Coast Funeral Home 5859 Merrill Road Jacksonville, FL 32277, (904) 762-0002. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Cancer Society of Florida, in Mr. Shook's name. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
