Mrs. Anna M. Cinicola
Mrs. Anna M. Cinicola, 89, of Summit Hill, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, in the St. Luke's Miner's Memorial Hospital Geriatric Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of Lawrence J. "Rusty" Cinicola, who passed away on Feb. 22, 1999.
She was a seamstress for the former Loomtogs, Star Fashions and other local garment factories in Summit Hill and Lansford.
She was a daughter of the late John Kalny and Christina (Kodlick) Kalny Valek.
Anna was a member of St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford, where she was a former member of the parish council and a past lector.
She was a former member of the Summit Hill Little League Women's Auxiliary, having dedicated many hours of service, and was also a former Girl Scout leader in Summit Hill and a former member of the Marian Quarterback Club.
She was a past president of the Rosary Lodge 51.
Anna was a great baker and also enjoyed making soups and haluski. Her goals in her life were to always make her family, church and community the best it could be.
Surviving are a daughter Anita, wife of Wesley Hiles of Summit Hill; three sons, Lawrence III, and his wife, Jeanne, of Summit Hill, Frederick, and his wife, Theresa, of Andreas, and Brian, and his wife, Michelle, of New Ringgold; two sisters, Christine Carnish and Ann Marie, wife of Scott Reinhart, both of White Bear, Summit Hill; a brother, John Valek, and his wife, Nadine, in New Jersey; a brother-in-law, Alex "Pepsi" Cinicola, and a sister-in-law, Rose Zurn, both of Jim Thorpe; seven grandchildren, Wesley, Nicholas, Lawrence, Zachary, Laura, Janelle and Derek; two great-grandchildren, Charizma and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Forrest and Judith Valek; two grandchildren, Cody and Joshua.
Service: Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, followed by further services at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford, with the Rev. Marjorie Keiter officiating. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, White Bear, Summit Hill. Call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10 a.m. Thursday. Contributions in her name may be made to St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church or the St. Luke's Miner's Memorial Hospital Geriatric Center Activity Fund, c/o the funeral home, 18250.
