Carlos R. Gruber
Carlos Robert "Bob" Gruber, 90, of Jackson Township, died Friday morning, Aug. 31, 2018, while under hospice care in his home.
He retired from Mack Trucks in 1988 after 33 years of service.
Born on Sept. 18, 1927, in Palmerton, he was the only child of the late Orville O. and Florence P. (Smith) Gruber.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1945-47.
The Gruber family has owned Gruber's Lake in Jackson Township since 1962, where he has resided full time since 1987.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors, bass fishing and spending time with his many friends from Reeders, Gruber's Lake, the Tannersville Inn and Christine's Reeders Inn.
He was a member of the Hungarian Club, Palmerton, and the American Legion Post and Peoples E.C. Church, both of Lehighton.
Surviving are two sons, Barry Gruber of Columbia, MD, and David Gruber of Lehighton; a granddaughter Ashley; and his former wife, Gail (Wentz) Steigerwalt of Kunkletown.
Service: Private celebration of life and memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg.
