Isabel Gilbert
Isabel "Izzy" Gilbert, 83, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall, where she was a resident.
She was the widow of Donald Gilbert, who died in 1995.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Obst) Smallberger.
She was a former member of the Ascension of our Lord Parish in
Phila-delphia.
She had worked as a waitress at one of the original Hardee's restaurants and later on an assembly line at a recycling factory, both in Philadelphia, before retiring.
She always loved to dance and Izzy was a big fan of QVC.
She is survived by a son, David Gilbert, and wife Valerie, of Palmerton; sisters, Sally, wife of Tom McCloskey, of Ben Salem, Peggy, wife of Rich Burkowski, Rose Taylor and Rita Keifer, all of Philadelphia; a brother, Rae Smallberger of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Danielle Dagostino and daughter Malereigh McCormick, Christian and Ryan Gilbert of Palmerton, John Mannon, and wife Stacy, of Ben Salem; Rosie and Jamie Mannon of Philadelphia; Shaun Mannon of Phoenixville; and Destiny Mannon, 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by daughters, Donna Mannon and Debbie Smallberger; and a sister, Mary Gilbert.
Service: A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, with the Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey officiating. There will be a viewing from noon to 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
