Lynwood G. Carpenter, 77, of Lehighton, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Cora Ann (Rehrig) Carpen-ter. They were married for 51 years in June.
He was em-ployed by the Fuller Company, RCA and the former New Jersey Zinc Co. before owning and operating the Carpenter Hobby Shop in Franklin Township.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Lester and Hazel (Markley) Carpenter.
He was a 1959 graduate of Perryville High School, Perryville, Md., and attended the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, Ind., graduating in 1963 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He was a member of the Carbon Model Railroad Society, the Beltzville Flying Machine Society and the Big Creek Lutheran Church, Lehighton.
He enjoyed model trains, flying model airplanes, attending train shows, restoring antique cars and running his trains on the platforms he built with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Christopher, and his wife, Kelli, and David, and his wife, Trish, both of Lehighton; three grandchildren, Caleb, Caine and Isaac; a niece and a nephew.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, with the Rev. Carl Schweitzer officiating. Interment, St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Big Creek, Franklin Twp. Viewing 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Contributions in his name may be made to the Carbon Co. Animal Shelter, 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
