William H. Walton
William H. Walton, 85, of Plymouth Meeting and formerly of Summit Hill and Tamaqua, died June 8, 2017, in Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the husband of the late Nancy J. (Brinich) Walton, who passed away in 2013.
Born June 18, 1931 in Trenton, N.J., he was a son of the late Louis and Dorothy (Bacorn) Walton.
In 1949, he was New Jersey's State Cross Country Champ in Trenton and also held a record in the mile run.
A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars on a destroyer and a mine sweeper. He went on to serve at the Pentagon, in charge of the air war in Vietnam before retiring in 1968.
After his military service, he was employed as a manager at McDonald's and the Burger King Corporation in northern Pennsylvania for more than 25 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Darlene, wife of Steve Thomas of Plymouth Meeting; two sons, William J. Walton and Samuel L. Walton and his wife, Wendy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by a son, Eugene; a daughter, Deborah; and four siblings.
Service: 11 a.m., June 16, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 3025 Church Road, Lafayette Hill. Interment, private. Call 10 to 11 a.m., June 16, at the church.
