Kimberly POPOV Obituary

POPOV, Kimberly Anne Kimberly Anne Popov, 47, a beloved child of God, passes away at her home in Dayton, OH, on January 26, 2018 after succumbing to a condition that she has battled for many years and is survived by her husband, Christoper Popov; Mother, Grace Averitt; Father, Mark Averitt; Brother, Stephen Averitt (Paula); Niece, Mindy Johnson (Dave); Nephew, Christoper Averitt, Father and mother-in-Laws; George and Peggy Popov; brother-in-law, Scott Popov (Amiee); niece, Katherine and nephews, Liam and Andrew; Aunt, Chris Young (Bob), Aunt Connie Williams (Jim), Uncle Bruce Brown (Cherie) and multitudes of friends. Kim was born in Xenia, OH and grew up in Greenville, OH. She learned to play both violin and piano. In her adult years, she attended Washington Heights Baptist church where she met her husband, Chris, and served the mentally handicapped. She was gifted with a beautiful voice and she sung both at church and in a show choir at Centerville Sr. High school. She attended Cedarville college and obtained a degree in professional writing. While there she participated in the Sword Bearers music ministry. Kim loved cats, music and her family. She was a nostalgic person who appreciated people and personalities from the 80's and enjoyed romantic comedies. Some of her favorites were Mark Hamill, Hugh Grant, Jack Wagner and Carol Burnett. Most of all, she adored her husband, Chris, who reciprocated that love and demonstrated Christ to her daily. Kim shared scripture and enjoyed telling other about Jesus. She was never at a loss for remembering and talking about her past experiences and life with her family and friends. She was jovial and heartfelt until her illness took her life. She will be remembered and loved dearly forever. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2nd, from 4 - 6pm at Washington Heights Baptist Church, located at 5650 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, OH, 45429 with memorial service immediately following.

Kim was a gentle soul. Kind. Bright. Keen sense of humor. Musically gifted. Great family. Devoted husband. Happy she's in the arms of her Savior. Grieving for her sudden but temporary separation from so many that love her.

Kim was one of the kindest souls I've ever been blessed to meet. The love Chris and Kim have for one another and their love for the Lord is nothing short of exemplary. I count myself blessed to have counted her as a friend. Love ya Chris!

I'm so sad I can't be there for Kim's memorial service. I only just found out and I would be coming from California, so I would arrive when the service ends. If only I knew yesterday. I'm so sorry Kim. I love you and your family dearly. I would have been there, but I will be there in my heart and prayers for Chris and everyone.

I'm devastated upon hearing this news today. I have been crying all night. I dearly loved my best friend from college. Kim came into my life one day 30 years ago with a smile and a joke when we first joined a gospel singing team, and she made me laugh and smile for the next 3 decades. Even when she was in pain, she always looked to Jesus and she always encouraged me. I will miss her dearly. I know she's up in heaven right now singing her heart out with that beautiful voice. I love you Kim. My prayers and thoughts are with her beautiful parents and family right now.

I'll always remember how good and kind Kim was..We were battling this problem and suffering so much. She was a light and inspiration who loved God and her family. Her concern was always for family before herself...May the family receive God's comfort during this time.

I used to babysit Kimberly and her brother occasionally when they were kids. I took piano lessons from her mom....not her best student. Her parents were my parents family friends. This breaks my heart to read of this home-going except for one thing...she is at home....with the Lord. We have hope! I know from Facebook of her sufferings. These are now over. Praying for the family. It hurts so much. Joy will come in the morning. Love to all! Kimberley Kensinger Tupps

I met Kim as we were battling the same disease. She was so kind and real and she always put herself out there for everyone and let people know how faithful she was and how much she loved her family and her cat and families cats in the past. Kim made you feel like you were the only person in the world and she could be suffering in pain and she never said a word . my heart is broken I can't really believe it right now . She was just a real honest and genuine person. I am so very truly sorry and I will miss seeing her beautiful posts and lively personality and she is a true hero and warrior . She there for me through A lot of things and I didn't reach out to to many people but because she was so warm and kind I always feel comfortable doing so. I didn't know that the last time I talked to her would be the last and I will miss her very very much.

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends.

I will miss you my dear friend and treasure the memories forever.

It's hard to describe how special Kim was to me and she will always be missed. She was one of those college friends that I just connected with and that did not change through the years though we did not see each other and only messaged each other and sometimes talked on the phone. She had a beautiful heart and really loved people. I remember many happy times in college. She was a close friend and I know she loved her mom, dad, brother, and husband a lot. I have been praying for all of you and will continue.
