Gerald Droll Obituary
FOSTORIA: Gerald T. "Dutch" Droll, 88, of Fostoria, passed away Monday afternoon October 31, 2016 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born November 26, 1927 in Fostoria to the late Joseph A. and Veronica (Frankart) Droll. He married Caroline L. "Corky" Corcoran on August 6, 1948 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are five children, Susan A. (Jim) Gillig, Venice, Fla., Jerald J. (Darryl Lang) Droll, Venice, Fla., William J. (Nancy) Droll, Bellevue, Mich., David E. (Jane E.) Droll, Millersport and Miriam S. (Bill) Forquer, Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother, Emmett (Dorothy) Droll, Fostoria. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard J. "Bud", Donald, Lawrence "Butch" and Martin Droll; and sister, Louise Elchert.
Dutch operated the former Droll Brothers Sohio, Fostoria with his brother Emmett for nearly 30 years and retired from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria. He was a 1946 graduate of St. Wendelin High School and a longtime member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Dutch built his own home after previously remodeling more than half a dozen homes, and when something needed repaired Corky was quick to say "Dutch will fix it!"
A memorial visitation is Thursday November 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm at HOENING FUNERAL HOME 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 8 pm with Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. Burial will take place at Catawba Island Twp. Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Residents activity fund of Good Shepherd Home or a charity of the donor's choice.
