Richard G.

Richard G. Hite, age 88, a Toledo native, passed to eternal life on December 16, 2014, at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, Ohio.

Richard was born to Gayford and Lucille (Duffey) Hite, on January 25, 1926, and attended Rosary Cathedral Elementary and Jessup Scott High School before entering the U.S. Navy in 1944. A veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged in 1946. Richard worked for Kuhlman Builders Brick & Supply Company as a crane operator for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion 587 Post, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18.

Married for 41 years to his loving wife, Alma Louise (Couturier) Hite, she preceded him in death in 1990.

One of three children, Richard was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeannette (Hite) Ritter, and is survived by his brother, Dale C. Hite, of Manitowac, Wisconsin; two sons, the Reverend Gregory R. Hite and Allan L. Hite (married to Rose); two grandchildren, Corey and Erin; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Richard will be at Walker Funeral Home, 5515 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio on Friday, December 19, 2014, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Boulevard, Toledo, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with his son, Father Gregory Hite, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Parkside Boulevard, Toledo immediately following the Mass.

The family wishes to thank caregivers at Alexis Gardens, Flower Hospital, Ebeid Hospice, and Dr. Thomas McAlear, MD, for their kindness and care. Those wishing to make memorials may do so to a charity of their choice. Condolences may be shared with the family at:

Fr. Hite , please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. There is comfort in knowing that your Dad now knows true peace and is "Safe in the Arms of Jesus"! You will always be special to Julie, Jackie and myself. You are such a Blessing to us!

We here at Alexis Gardens will truly miss Mr. Hite. We will always remember his stories and his sharp whit.
Mr. Hite was always friendly and kind to everyone. His table of friends at lunch will really miss him.

hi greg and alan and rose and family. im very sorry too hear on the passing of your dad and father. i allways think of him from time too time over the years. i had plans made up on a plane trip before today on december 18 2014 in the afternoon. and too go down and see chris and sabrina rehklau for thur christmas party on saturday on december 20 2014. i hope one day i can see all of you guys someday here again. my prayers and my thoughts are with you and your family. i already told and let my uncle bill kown about richard 2 days ago here william rehklau, on your dad passing here in toledo. from kenneth m wheat jr.

Dear Father Greg & Allen
Was just looking at black and white pictures of all of us by your garage in Toledo. And one of your parents at back door looking at us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I can still here him calling your Mom's name when he wanted something. And that colored screen thing on your televiosion. We had fun with him at Georges graduation party in Lorain. Lots of good memories cherish them, I will.
