December 25, 1923 - January 2, 2021
Leonard Marsh, 97, Temperance, MI, died Saturday January 2, 2021 after testing positive for the Coronavirus.
He was born December 25, 1923 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and moved with his family to the Sylvania area as a young boy. He was raised on a farm near where the Franklin Park Mall is now located.
A veteran of the Second World War, he served in the South Pacific as an Army Medic.
Leonard married Esther Loga of Ida, Michigan in 1949 and they shared 64 years together before her death in 2013. They raised their family in a home that he built on Temperance Road, and that is where he died.
He enjoyed Polka music and he and Esther attended many Polka festivals in the area.
After retiring from Interstate Trucking as a dock worker, they spent many winters in Arizona and Texas.
He was a hard worker, holding many jobs over the years, and was always willing to help others when called upon.
Leonard was preceded in death by wife, Esther; son, Ronald; brother, John Marsh; and sisters, Gladys Krylsvsld, Kathryn Ruetz, Annie Buyaki, Winnifred Waldron, Alice Ruetz and Flora Bieber.
He is survived by his children, Allen (Cynthia) Marsh of Webberville, Michigan, Victoria (James) Wilson of Bartlett, NH, Jeffrey Marsh of Ida, Michigan, Pastor Holli Burkard of Haskins, Ohio, James Marsh of Temperance, Michigan and Rita Dusseau of Temperance, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Marsh of Strafford, MO; eleven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Also survived by brother-in-law, Paul Loga and sister-in-law, Cora Loga.
Due to COVID 19, there will be no services at this time.
