Lawrence Tiefenbach Obituary

Deacon Lawrence W. Tiefenbach, Sr.

June 10, 1937 - April 8, 2021

Deacon Lawrence W. Tiefenbach, Sr., 83, of Fishers, IN and formerly of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on April 8, 2021 in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, IN. He was born June 10, 1937 to Lawrence Wendell and Gabrielle (Kojancic) Tiefenbach, in Cleveland, OH. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962 in communications. On October 31, 1959 he married Margaret A. Dusek at Spangdahlem AFB in Germany. Larry would later receive a BA Degree from Baldwin Wallace College after years of attending night school. Larry and Margaret raised 2 children and celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage. Larry worked for Warren Radio in Toledo and later as a software developer for Maumee based Aktion Associates before he retired.

On May 21, 1988, Larry was ordained as a Deacon for the Diocese of Toledo. Affectionately known as Deacon Larry, he served under numerous pastors at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg before entering retirement status.

In addition to his wife Margaret, Larry is survived by his children, Lawrence W. (Sandra) Tiefenbach, Jr., of Traverse City, MI and Mary T. (Anthony) Snow of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Brian Tiefenbach of CA, Benjamin Tiefenbach of MI, Bernadette Snow of IN and Danielle Snow of CA; sister, Karen Palinkas of AZ; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Henderson of OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Frank D. Tiefenbach.

Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and valued friend to many. He enjoyed singing in choirs and could play the accordion. He especially loved his Dachshund, Heidi who was always by his side. Larry firmly believed in obtaining a college degree and accomplished this goal in 1984. He was the kindest, gentlest man one would ever meet and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Family and friends will be received 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., with a funeral mass beginning at 12 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH. Celebrant will be, The Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of Toledo. Committal will be in St. Rose Cemetery.
