Jean Frances Vassar Obituary
Jean Frances Vassar

Jean Frances Vassar left the cares of this life behind her on Wednesday January 9, 2019 as she passed peacefully into to the loving arms of Jesus our savior. She was born on December 18, 1927 to Leo and Jane (Denuit) Ash. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Vassar; parents; sister Rosemary Boyle and brother Donald Ash.

She graduated from Central Catholic High School and worked for Abby Eatna for many years. She was a longtime member and served as the president of the Salesian Club, a Catholic women's club that drew members from all over the City. After marrying Clyde in 1970 they lived in many places including Vermont, Rhode Island, and California. During which time she made lifelong friends and she blessed many offices with her organizational skills and attention to detail. After Clyde's passing she returned to the Toledo area and worked for the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library retiring in 2005.

Jean was passionate about God, sewing, and crafting. Her prayer life was admired and we all benefitted from the time she spent in reflection and prayer. A member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church she used her sewing skills to make Baptism cloths.

Aunt Jean is survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon (Bob) Kwiatkowski, Dennis (Linda) Boyle, Douglas, Ash, Charlotte Hurst, David (Sharon) Ash, Darrell (Sandy) Ash, Donald Ash, Dan (Vicki) Ash, Michael (Ann) Boyle, Patricia Walkup, Cathy (David) Krueger, numerous great and great–great nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the people at Oak Leaf Village, who have been her caregivers, support team and friends these past 5 years and to Great Lakes Caring Home Health & Hospice.

Visitation will be at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019, with the Celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church.
