Margot Clark Obituary

CLARK Margot Bennett Margot Bennett Clark, age 78, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2008, at West Park Place surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo on May 11, 1930, to Geoffrey and Margaret Smith Clark Bennett. Margot went to Maumee Country Day School, Foxcroft School and Ogontz College. She grew up spending summers on Rattlesnake Island where she developed a love for island life, horses and boating. She met the love of her life, Everett "Rennie" Clark at the Roundhouse on Put-In-Bay and they spent their honeymoon on Rattlesnake Island. Margot and Rennie had 6 wonderful children and loved spending time boating on the Great Lakes. They were members of the Toledo Power Squadron and the Toledo Yacht Club. Margot was one of the original employees of Jacobson's and was often the top sales person. Her laugh was infectious and could be heard throughout the store. She retired in 1996 after 22 years. After retirement, she worked as a board member for the Flower Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in their gift shop. In her life, she was also involved in Toledo Day Nursery, the Junior League and the Juvenile Detention Center. Margot was happiest when surrounded by her six kids and a martini in her hand. Margot is survived by her children, Deb Batdorf, Ward Debbie Clark, Geoffrey Clark, John Gwen Clark, Julie Dan Donaldson and Amy Clark; grandchildren, Bryan Batdorf, Bradley Batdorf, Michael Lindi Mensing Batdorf, Elisabeth Jason Anderson Clark, Steven Clark, Laura Clark, Scott Clark, Joseph Donaldson, Jamie Donaldson, Ellen Clark, and Emily Clark; great-grandchildren, Andrew Batdorf, Shawn Batdorf, Carter Batdorf and Aidan Batdorf. Margot was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rennie, who passed away 24 years ago and her brother and best friend, Geoffrey Bennett. Near the end of her life she looked forward to seeing them again. Family will receive friends on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 2 30 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. . Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 2 30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Place and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all the loving care and support provided to Margot and her family. Amy,
I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's death. I know this is an extremely difficult time for you and your family. We lost my Mom last year and it's just not the same, but life goes on and they want us to, too. Hope you are finding strength in your faith and in knowing she's home now.

Deb & family,
We know what it's like to lose a mother to her heavenly reward. We know that you are consoled by the fact that she is resting in the arms of Jesus and suffering no more. May God keep you in His care and comfort you now.

I was so saddened to read about your Mom in the paper. My memories of your parents go back to the Toledo Power Squadron and Yacht Club. Boating was my parents passion also, so every free moment was spend on, in or around the water. I will always remember Margot's spirit - there was nobody like her! Maybe thru words or pictures, you will remember my parents - Jim and Shirley Ryan. Our Dad's did so much for the Power Squadron. And our Mom's went along with them....helping in every way that they could. Now that they're all gone, I can only hope they they are planning a festive rendezvous, complete with all their favorite foods and beverages. Ohmygosh.....they truly knew how to have a good time, and I don't think those times can ever come around again.
I am thinking of your parents and all of your great family.

What an amazing, fun person. Like my Dad (her brother) Margot loved people and had a wonderful way of making everyone feel comportable and welcome. She had a great laugh and even better sense of humor. She will be missed by SO many!

I will always remember Margot from my college days working Christmas at Jacobsons. Her laugh could be heard coming down the hall and it always put a smile on my face. She was such a neat lady and she always made me feel like the most important person in the room.

Dearest Clark Family,
It is with the deepest sympathies that I extend my heartfelt condolences to each and every one of you... Margot was so super cool and I know I am being selfish when I say that I wish I would have had more time with her!!! You have the most beautiful, loving family...it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know all of you. In the very short amount of time that Margot was with us, she sure left a lasting impression! I hope she is up there laughing her heart out and enjoying many more chocolate martini's!!! PLEASE keep in touch! God Bless!

I remember Margot as a pretty, lively, fresh teenager when she and Geoff stayed with us on Tewksbury Farm, Pottersville, N.J. We had few contacts over the years, but cheerfulness, facing problems with realism and gusto, and warmth for family and friends. I will miss her and send condolences to her family.
