Carl Gholden Obituary
Carl D.
Carl D. Gholden, age 84, of St. Augustine, passed away on August 31, 2012, at the Stephens Memorial Home surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. After the war he joined the United Auto Workers Union and worked for Chrysler Jeep in Toledo for 38 years, retiring as a Dock Foreman. He had been a seasonal resident of St. Augustine since 1988 while he enjoyed traveling the country and had been a permanent resident since 1997. He was a good husband and father and enjoyed providing for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Gholden of St. Augustine; sons, Matt Gholden and Brett Gholden, both of St. Augustine, Clint Gholden of Winder, GA, Kurt Gholden of Erie, MI; a sister, Clara Tuttle of Coldwater, MI, and grandchildren, Ashley Gholden, Colleen Gholden, and Haleigh Gholden.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Kings Estates Road with Don Belloit officiating.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I have so many great memories of Carl and Gloria and often thought that they were superhuman to raise 4 boys. Some of the stories I heard were unbelievable but yet I always saw patience with Carl. Rest in peace my friend and enjoy the stoogie up in heaven you deserve it. Love all of you Gloria, Matt, Brett, Clint, and Kurt.

I haven't seen Carl since high school! but what I remember is that he was such a role model of a father to his family and those like i that hung around him! I remember him remodeling the firplace in the living room. and i was so interested in the hearth and the brick work he was doing! He was the type of dad that america was raised on! He will be missed!
