Sylvia Mays Obituary
Sylvia
Sylvia Mays, 86 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, in the Vibrant Life Care Center in Temperance. A telephone operator, she had worked at Ohio Bell, Bedford Public Schools and The Toledo Clinic. One of 10 children of Walter and Mary (Wisniewski) Czerminski she was born January 18, 1928, in Toledo. She was a 1946 graduate of Woodward High School. Sylvia grew up in the Polish neighborhood during WWII and while working at Ohio Bell, she met her future husband through mutual friends. October 15, 1949, she married Thomas Lee Mays in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, he preceded her in death April 3, 2000. Sylvia retired to raise her only son, Rick Thomas. Her grandson, Tom, was the apple of her eye.
She is survived by her loving son, Rick (Dianne) Mays; grandson, Thomas Sergei Mays; 2 sisters, Evelyn Slivinski, Eleanor Bowman; many grand nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI where there will be visiting in the Narthex after 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

It has been many years since I have seen Sylvia Mays, but I do remember her...especially her laugh. My heart goes out to the family who is adjusting to this loss; especially Rick Mays and his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
