Arthur M. Jr.

Arthur M. Barrie Jr., 73, of Toledo, OH passed away on November 18, 2014, at the Lutheran Home of Toledo. He was born in Toledo on January 22, 1941, to Arthur M. Barrie Sr. and Marguerite I. (Rupp) Barrie. Art was destined to follow in the footsteps of his late father, Art Barrie Sr., who was a fixture on Toledo radio for many years. Art Jr. had a working, legal amateur radio station in his bedroom while in high school. Also while in high school, Art was frequently found at the South Toledo YMCA where he was the "go to" guy for all things having to do with AV and sound equipment. After graduating from high school, Art got his first job in radio working at WOHP in Bellefontaine, OH. Before long he moved back to Toledo and joined the staff of WOHO radio. Art used the professional name of Art Lynn at WOHO and developed his own show, Lynn in the Spin. His show was fun and entertaining, especially when the WOHO cleaning lady (a character created and voiced by him) would inadvertently come into the studio and create a disruption; she later developed a following of her own. Art sponsored many live sock hops in the area, often featuring name talent brought into town such as Freddy Cannon. Art also worked at WSPD radio later in his career. Following radio, Art was in the publishing and promotion business. He owned and published the Suburban Herald newspaper for many years, along with promoting the RV shows that filled the old Sports Arena.

Art is survived by his son, Dr. Arthur M. (Amy) Barrie III; grandchildren, Emily and Michael; sister, Pam Henry; nieces, Beth (Tony) Tepper and Lisa (Matt) Perry.

There will be no visitation and services will be private. Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home in Oregon, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
