Albert M. "Al"



Albert M. "Al" Baumgartner, 76 years old, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH. Al was born to Arthur Baumgartner and Mary (Grzeszczak) Baumgartner on March 14, 1939, in Toledo, OH. Al graduated from Macomber Vocational High School in 1957. He married Barbara J. Mierzwiak on May 23, 1970, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. They were married 45 years in May.

Al was employed as a Tool & Die Designer at Quality Tool & Die, Carobil Design & RCW Peterson Associates, Inc. He belonged to Jude Thaddeus Catholic War Vets Post 1675, Toledo Elks 535, Bayview Senior Golf Course where he volunteered. Al also volunteered for the Jamie Farr LPGA for many years.

Al was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Christopher (Susan Kiefer) Baumgartner, Cheryl (Christopher) Weislak; four grandchildren, Matthew and Brennan Baumgartner, and Breah and Anastacia Weislak, and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Merritt.

There will be no visitation per Al's request. He donated his body to the University of Toledo, College of Medicine Anatomical Donation Program. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, November 14 at St. Clement Catholic Church on Tremainsville, at 10 a.m.

Special thanks to the ER Staff at Flower Hospital and to the ICU staff, especially Stacie and Becky for their compassion and expertise; but most of all a special Thank You to Dr. Anil Mehta.
