Michael Pivovarnick Obituary
Michael Robert Pivovarnick, (Pivo), 88, a Hamilton native, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018.
A 1947 Graduate of Hamilton High West, he also graduated from Rider College with his Bachelor and Masters degrees.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, honorably discharged in 1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31 for 63 years.
Michael was also a member of the Trenton Ancient Order of Hibernians as well as a Lifetime Member of the Hamilton Elks Lodge #2262. He was one of the founding members and Past Presidents of the Ozarks Hunting Club in Jackson, NJ.
Michael (Mr. Pivo) started his teaching career at Steinert High School in Hamilton and retired after 36 years, ending his career as a guidance counselor. Coach Pivo led several boys and girls soccer teams to County and State Championships. He also coached the Rider College Men's Soccer Team for 7 years. He was inducted into several local, county, and state Soccer Halls of Fame.
He also owned and operated Bronco Soccer Camp at Rider College for 13 years. He loved the Hamilton Soccer community and his part in promoting the game.
Pivo enjoyed spending his summers as Program Director at Lohikan Camps, in Honesdale, PA.
With his wife he enjoyed winters in Florida, traveling, cruising, and camping. His love continued with gardening and golfing. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He always relished time with friends and family, and a good Manhattan.
Pre-deceased by his parents, Michael and Catherine (Mauer) Pivovarnick; son, Michael Robert Pivovarnick II; and daughter-in-law Wanda D. Pivovarnick. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Lillian (Shinkle) as well as his children; Gary and wife Cindi, Jeffrey and companion, Linda, Robin Taylor, Ted and wife Betty, and Nancy Wiggins. He has several grandchildren: Michael, Rob and his wife, Vicki, Erin and her husband, Mike, Ruthie, Doug and Katie as well as great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 13th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the Hamilton Elks service at 8:30 p.m. at Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ. On Thursday, June 14th, there will be calling hours from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service starting at 12:00 p.m. Donations can be made in memory of Michael Pivovarnick to Hamilton Elks Lodge #2262, at 1580 Kuser Road, Hamilton NJ 08619, or to The Ancient Order of Hibernians at 2419 Kuser Road, Hamilton, NJ 08690.
