Raymond S. Apryasz

Raymond Stanley Apryasz, 82, of Blairsville, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at Excela Health Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe. The son of Stanley R. and Louise Fundykowski Apryasz, he was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Apryasz was a member of SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, Angels of Compassion of the church and BPOE 406, Blairsville. He enjoyed church and polka music, gardening and bowling in various leagues. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed by Torrance State Hospital for 32 years. Surviving are three children, Stanley "Stush" and wife Toni, Blairsville, Sandra Dyke McLaughlin, Lake Worth, Fla., and Sharon Eicher, Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Komosiski, Carnegie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Virginia Fletcher Apryasz, on Nov. 11, 2004. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant. Interment will be in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
