Judith L. Werner

Judith Lee Werner, 76, of Clairton, departed this life Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 to be with her husband on Valentine's Day. She was a retired assistant to the chef at U.S. Steel, Irvin Works, and a former employee of the Elizabeth Hotel. A member of Pine Run United Methodist Church in Clairton, she loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Most of all, she enjoyed watching her grandson play baseball up through the collegiate level, as well as any other activities involving her family. Born Sept. 14, 1938, in Large, she was a daughter of the late Thomas "Tapper" and Alice (Atkinson) Waddington. She was married March 22, 1957, to the late Eugene "Herk" Werner, who passed away Dec. 15, 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Tony) Kurta, of Clairton, Deborah Werner, of Clairton, Darla (Randy) Miller, of West Mifflin, and Donna (Robert) Shirley, of West Mifflin; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Collins, Sara Miller, Zach Miller, Thomas Shirley and Steven Shirley, all of West Mifflin; three great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Riley and Adam John "AJ" Collins; sisters, Rita (James) McVicker, of Jefferson Hills, and Tawnee (Gary) Thomas, of Pickerington, Ohio; sister-in-law, Sharon Waddington, of Clairton; and also nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Waddington and sister, Agnes Atkinson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, Elizabeth. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Michael Airgood officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
