George A. Pierce, 71, of West Mifflin, peacefully died Wednesday, April 14, 2010. He was the son of the late Albert and Ruth Pierce. George was a member of the American Legion Post 0712. He served in the U.S. Marines. He was an avid fisherman and a pool shark, who enjoyed attending local boxing matches with his daughter. He loved to play practical jokes and spending time with his dogs Rowdy and Sheba. Loving husband of Betty L. for 47 years; devoted father of Alexis (Darris Bertani) Pierce; brother of Ruth Pastore Holmes; uncle of Ramon Pastore, Lynn Lopretto, Heidi and Greg Pastore; great-uncle of five; and great-great-uncle of two. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15237, or to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
