Eugene D. DeMine formerly of Latrobe Eugene D. DeMine, 91, of Port Washington, Ohio, formerly of Latrobe, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at his residence. He was born Dec. 24, 1920, in Latrobe, a son of the late Gustav S. and Frances C. (Ferree) DeMine. Eugene was retired from Latrobe Steel Co. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. He was a member of the FO Eagles No. 01188, the Cooperstown Veterans and Sportsmen and the Latrobe Steel Retirees. He was an avid bowler and had played with the senior bowling league at Lincoln Lanes. He loved to play horseshoes, loved flowers, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He loved his country. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Sedlak) DeMine; a son, Victor M. DeMine; nine brothers, Leon, John, Raymond, Edward, William, Marcus, Victor, Rodell and Donald DeMine; and three sisters, Florence Mae Blaine, Gilberta Schoenfelder and Lillian DeMine. Eugene is survived by two sons, Eugene F. DeMine, of Yucaipa, Calif., and David M. DeMine and his wife, Pam, of Monroeville; a daughter, Catherine A. Lewis and her husband, Roger, of Port Washington, Ohio; five grandchildren, David, Matthew, Nicholas, Benjamin and Gina; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Alexander and Danielle. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Members of the FO Eagles No. 01188 will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Military services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home by American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Dave Ament officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.
