Christine Orosz Obituary
Christine (Marino) Rizk Orosz, a passionate helper, a truth-teller, our beloved mother, sister and friend, passed July 4, 2018. We said our final goodbye to our mother, sister and friend, Christine Orosz. She started StageRight! School for the Performing Arts, 20 years ago, bringing together talented working professionals from musical theater to teach, mentor and support area youth on the craft and skills of performance, voice, stage management and more. She took the role of director emeritus earlier this year. Divorced and single-parenting three kids in her late 20's; mom took stock of her resources and found a way to complete her bachelor's degree. She then attended Carnegie Mellon University to add additional business management skills to her resume. She led medical and dental group practices, including Pittsburgh's premier neurosurgery group, and a multi-office family practice group in the South Hills. At the peak of this first career, she felt unfulfilled, and she searched for something that would inspire her for years to come. She said the memories of her best friend, who had lost a battle with depression, and the inspiration of her late father guided her to launch StageRight! Working with her brother and artistic director, Tony Marino, and his wife, Renata, she practically launched StageRight by sheer force of will. After an early attempt at partnership with another arts group didn't work out, she applied for and received state and county grants to carve the school out of an abandoned furniture warehouse on Greensburg's Main St. Eventually, they would outgrow the space, and another rental property after that, before brokering a deal to establish a permanent home in the newly-named David Mateer Center for the Performing Arts on Third St., in Greensburg. For everyone who knew her, Christine's refreshing directness and instinctive kindness stand alongside her fierce love and support as reasons we and so many others cared for her. Our entire family has had the good fortune to share mom with so many others whose lives she touched. This includes students from StageRight, coworkers from her time in medical practice management, colleagues from school and a growing cast of friends from her book group, her reunion committee, Rotary Club and so many other connections. Christine truly collected relationships not to use them some time in the future and not to lock down the right person for this or that task. She wanted to know you, to help you, to let you know she believed in you. She wanted to offer a hand, share a laugh and do a little something extra. She was deeply loved, and she will be greatly missed. Christine loved flowers but preferred the long-lasting beauty of plants to be shared among her family and friends after the service. She would also appreciate any donations to her beloved StageRight in her honor.
A celebration of her life featuring songs and remembrances will be held in conjunction with StageRight Aug. 18, 2018. More information will be available about this event soon. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel.
