Edith M. McDade, 86, of Plum, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Maria (Beck) Loeffler; daughter-in-law of the late Edward and Florence McDade; beloved wife for 67 years of Samuel H. McDade; loving mother of Karen L. Dozzi, Patty J. McDade, Samuel H. (Michele) McDade, Gregory A. McDade Sr., Kenneth D. (Diana) McDade, Katherine A. (Mark) Walcutt and the late Richard E. (surviving spouse, Bonnie) McDade; grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of 12; sister of the late Anneliese Barret; sister-in-law of Merle and Judith McDade, George McDade, Charles McDade, James McDade, Shirley Moreno-Davis and the late Edward and Arch McDade, and Ann; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Edith and her husband Sam were married on Oct. 17, 1953, in Augsburg, Germany, coming to the United States in April of 1954 while Sam was in the service. They owned and operated McDade's Cafe for 42 years, opening on July 17, 1970 and retiring in 2012. They moved to Florida for eight years, coming back to Pittsburgh in November of 2020. Friends and relatives will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Please wear a mask while inside our funeral home. Services and interment will be private for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
