Hersial S. Ritchey Obituary
Hersial Samuel Ritchey, 95, of Palm Harbor, Fla., formerly of Level Green, departed this earth peacefully at the home of his daughter Monday, July 17, 2017. Hersial was born July 19, 1921, in Llanfair, Pa., to the late Robert and Laura (Harvey) Ritchey. Hersial began working for his father as a painter in 1933. He joined the Navy in 1942 and proudly served in the Armed Guard as a signalman. Prior to his honorable discharge in 1945, he made 16 crossing of the North Atlantic to dozens of ports in North America, Europe, Asia and North Africa. Hersial studied at the Art Institute and pursued the fine art of drawing and painting throughout his life. Westinghouse Air Brake benefited from his employ for 30 years, retiring in 1979. Hersial was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 54 years, Josephine (Fanty), July 20, 1997; his brothers, Blair, Wilbur and Wayne, and sisters, Virginia (Killian) and Elnora (Charles). Hersial is survived by a brother, Arnold (Dee), of Coolidge, Ariz.; daughter, Beverly (Kevin) Garcia; sons, Dennis, Thomas, (Donna) and Hersial Jr. (Janice); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 702 Seventh St., (State Route 130), Trafford, 412-372-3111. Funeral services and entombment with military honors will be private.
