Anthony Patsy "Pee Wee" Amaranto, 83, of Vandergrift, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, in the Bilbie House, Gilpin Township. Anthony was born March 31, 1929, in Vandergrift, to the late John and Stella (Marino) Amaranto. He lived in Vandergrift all his life and was a 1946 graduate of Vandergrift High School. He was a veteran of the Army; he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Anthony was employed by U.S. Steel in Vandergrift for 32 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church and VFW, both of Vandergrift. Anthony was an avid golfer. He was a former member and pro shop attendant at Hill Crest Country Club, Lower Burrell, for several years. He also enjoyed reading. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (Miska) Amaranto, Nov. 10, 1997; and brother, Francis N. "Ace" Amaranto, Dec. 3, 2011. Anthony is survived by his companion, Louise "Red" Bauer, of Parks Township; son, Mark (Paula) Amaranto, of Johnstown; one grandson; sister, Angie Early, of Vandergrift; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Parting prayers of transfer will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church with Father James Loew, OSB, as celebrant. Entombment in Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont.
