Carl Bongiovanni Obituary

Carl Anthony Bongiovanni, 59, of Allison Park, passed away suddenly the morning of Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. He attended Fox Chapel Area High School, where he played football. He continued his education at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, Class of 1979. Upon graduation, he joined the family business, Bon Tool Company, which his father started in 1958 and that his son, John, will continue to run. He will always be remembered for his genuine kindness, generosity, humble nature, and warm heart. He was an active member of the Pittsburgh Field Club, where he enjoyed playing golf with his many golf buddies. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh chapter of the YPO/WPO organization and the Duquesne Club. Carl spent many evenings on his front porch sharing words of wisdom with his children, their friends, and his friends. He loved taking walks in the woods with his dog. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was so proud to have become a grandfather in the last few months. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Romualdi); his son, John (wife, Katie); his daughters, Dana (husband, Brian) Werner, and Emily; his grandsons, Colton Bongiovanni and Henry Werner; his parents, Carl and Natalie; his sisters, Michele (husband, John) Bender and Paula (husband John) Wight; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

A well lived gives credit to our Creator who made us in his image Genesis 1:27. It is no small wonder that we thirst for life to realize our dreams and to search for new adventures. One day soon, our Creator will provide an environment in which we no longer cry from the pain of death. My sincere hope for you and your family.

Carl Texted me in December and said "it has been too long since I heard from You" (I had moved to Florida) I agreed and we tried to schedule to get together. I congratulated him on their new Grandchild. He was off to NY and I got the shocking news.
Among his many great qualities, I remember most how he treated everyone with respect no matter what job they had. And when the city didn't fix a dangerous pothole for months on a busy street, he stopped there with his own materials and fixed it himself!! He was very successful but always humble... a rare trait among successful people today.

To Carl's family, I just heard the sad news. I went to college with Carl and we captained the Rugby team together with Tom Maco. Carl was a good friend and always fun to be around. What I most remember about Carl was that he was solid, he was always in control, always had your back. I am sure that he was a great family man and that he is already desperately missed. Carl, godspeed brother, gonna have one tonight in your honor!

I am so saddened by this. I didn't know him very well but the few times I did get to talk with him, he always seemed like such a genuinely nice person. That is rare in today's world. My sincere condolences to the family.
