John R. "Jack" O'Donnell, 85, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016. He was born April 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh, the youngest of seven children, to the late George and Mary O'Donnell. He grew up in Blawnox and Homewood. After marrying Dorothy (Liss) in 1953, he resided in Penn Hills for 60 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George O'Donnell; sisters, Anna Margaret Morton, Marie Shelnick, Catherine "Kay" McNeil, Rita Ward, Elizabeth DeDominicis; and his daughter, Susan O'Donnell. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Liss) O'Donnell; sons, John (Janice) O'Donnell and Dennis O'Donnell; daughters, Maureen (Dennis) Maiorino, Kathleen (Frank) Streeter and Dorothy (James) Kingerski; grandfather of 10; and three great-grandchildren. Jack was proud to be a sheet metal worker for Sheet Metal Workers Local 12.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES LTD., 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road), Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
