Marian Palmer Obituary
Marian Palmer, 89, a longtime resident of Leetsdale, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at West Hills Nursing Home in Moon Township. Marian was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Coraopolis, the daughter of the late Frank and Blanche (Caniglia) Marino. She was a graduate of the Coraopolis High School Class of 1947, employed as a teacher's aide at Quaker Valley High School from 1971 until 1987, and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Joseph Palmer, proprietor of Palmer's Barber Shop and Health Club in Sewickley, and a longtime member of the Quaker Valley School Board; and brother, Frank Marino Jr., who died in combat during the Korean War in 1951. Survivors include her children, Richard, Frank and Edward (Joy) Palmer and Barbara Palmer Kisio; grandchildren, Christopher and Bryan Kisio, Katelynn Palmer Paulsen (Chad), Mitchell, Matthew and Madelynn Palmer; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Kisio and Kacen and Kaia Paulsen. Also surviving are sister, Evelyn Janessa; niece, Lucille Janessa; and cousin Lisa Caniglia. Marian was an avid reader who also loved music, especially opera, and was a distant cousin of the famed Italian soprano Maria Caniglia. She also played a mean game of pinochle and was a member of a local card club in Leetsdale for 40 years. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor and devotion to family and friends, not to mention her amazing tomato sauce.
Friends were received Friday, May 31, at JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, PA 15003. A blessing was held Saturday, June 1, at the funeral home, followed by burial service at St. James Cemetery in Sewickley.
