Caroline Blackmore Obituary
Caroline Craig Blackmore, 84, longtime O'Hara Township and Fox Chapel resident, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. Caroline was the daughter of George R. and Caroline L. Craig; and sister of George Jr. and Katherine Craig, all deceased. She was the beloved wife for 61 years of Robert P. Blackmore, of O'Hara Township, and wonderful mother of Robert (Michele) Blackmore, also of O'Hara, Steven Blackmore, of Portland, Ore., and Craig Blackmore, of Seattle, Wash. She loved visits from her grandchildren, Zachary, Sarah and Lael Blackmore. Caroline graduated from Wilson College and began her teaching career in 1969. She taught English for 28 years at Dorseyville Junior High School and Fox Chapel High School. She also completed a master of education and other post-graduate work while raising her three energetic boys. Caroline was a highly respected teacher who pushed her students to be their best. She loved children and working with her students and preparing school yearbooks. Caroline enjoyed walking, swimming, kayaking, cross-country and downhill skiing (including chaperoning the ski bus), reading and traveling, especially up to Chautauqua Lake, in New York. She often volunteered on community-related activities, and later in life enjoyed providing lectures on books she had read to the other residents at St. Barnabas. She enjoyed singing and always found a church choir to join. She was truly a positive force in this world and will be missed by many.
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at the THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 930 Center Ave., Blawnox, PA 15238. Burial was private.
