Dominick P. LaMantia Jr. Obituary
Dominick P. "Babe" LaMantia Jr., 88, of Bolivar, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at St. Andrew's Village. He was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Bolivar, a son of the late Dominick P. LaMantia Sr. and Rose Gatto LaMantia. Babe owned and operated LaMantia's Store and LaMantia Beer Distributor in Bolivar. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Seward, a 50-year member of the Bolivar American Legion, and a past member and assistant chief of the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Joseph, and Anthony LaMantia; and his longtime companion and dear friend, Martha Barletta. He is survived by three sisters, Marie (John) Klein, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Ida Grossman, of Northfield, Ohio, and Helen (Thomas) Fetsko, of Johnstown; a brother, Vincent (Delores) LaMantia, of Ebensburg; and many loving and adoring nieces and nephews.
Babe's family and friends will gather together from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, with the Rev. Robert Washko as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville. Military honors will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel.
