Duane S. Molnar Obituary
Duane S. Molnar, 64, of Scottdale, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2019, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 17, 1954, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late Dennis and Arlene Kayser Molnar. Duane was a graduate of Brooke County High School. He was an undergraduate at West Virginia University and obtained a master's degree in English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was a professor of English and effective speech at Westmoreland County Community College for 35 years, and was a member of various organizations and clubs within the college. Duane was an avid friend of nature; he took great joy in feeding the animals and planting trees. Duane was his wife's number one volunteer for more than 20 years of wildlife rehabilitation. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of all hard woods, and even incorporated them into his home. He was an over-the-top West Virginia University sports fan. Shortly after his diagnosis, Duane wrote a textbook for effective speech and it was published in August 2018. Duane is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, whom he married July 3, 1993, Mary Beth Long Molnar, of Scottdale; his siblings, Douglas Molnar and wife, Kris, of Wheeling, W.Va., and Ardelle Molnar, of Evans, Ga.; a number of nieces and nephews; his best friends, Sam and Kathleen Hindman, of Scottdale; his mother-in-law, Mary Kay Long, of Greensburg; his sister-in-law, Melissa Long, of North Carolina; his dachshunds, Redmond and The Gibbs; and a host of other pets at home. In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by brother, Darwin Molnar (2017); and father-in-law, Gilbert Long (March 2018).
