The world has lost a wonderful man and it is with great sadness that we share Ed Olech, 90, of Painesville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. He was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Jeannette, to the late George and Stella Olech (Schulc). He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ed proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. After 15 years of dedicated service, he retired from the Department of the Navy as an auditor. In his free time, Ed enjoyed watching the Steelers play as he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed camping, playing Poker with friends every Friday, bowling and golfing. Ed was an honorary member of the Collinwood Memories Group and they attended the many bus trips with. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nita Olech, loving daughter, Roberta (Ronald) Santoriello, grandchildren, Ronnie (Jordan) Santoriello and Emily Santoriello, great-grandson, Vinny, and sister, Nell (Fred) Tanberg. Ed also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Virginia, Ben and Joe. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at MONREAL SRNICK FUNERAL HOME, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake, Ohio. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor, OH 44060. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
