Elizabeth M. Thomas Obituary
Elizabeth M. "Liz" Kittey Thomas, 84, of Ligonier, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in Excela Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Wilpen, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Miglas Kittey. Liz was a member of the Waterford United Methodist Church. For many years, she was a school bus driver for the Ligonier Valley School District. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed people, swimming, gardening and watching the hummingbirds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Milton Thomas; four sisters, Anna Gross, Marge Topeka, Rose Lape and Sylvia Kovochko; and three brothers, Thomas, Charles and George Kittey. Liz is survived by her children, Charles E. "Chuck" Thomas (Buffy), of Jeannette, Mark M. Thomas (Janet), of Pikeville, N.C., and Marsha Hall (Jay), of Latrobe; a brother, Steve Kittey (Becky), of Latrobe; three sisters, Irene Zajdel (Bill), of Greensburg, Kay Roddy (Lowell), of Ligonier, and Mary Nicholson, of O'Fallen, Mo.; six grandchildren, Michelle Hootman Hixon, Diana Holland, Jeramiah, Joshua, Kaitlin and Mark Thomas; 11 great-grandchildren, Evan, Serena, Connor, Austin, Lacie, Amelia, Ansley, Seth, Bella, Mady and Magean; one great-great-grandchild, Mason; her fur babies, Valentine, Phoebe and Gus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Waterford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Keen officiating. Interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery. McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, is in charge of arrangements.
