Fred S. Kemerer, 95, of Greensburg, died Friday, April 30, 2021, in his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Greensburg, a son of the late Snyder and Helen Mildred (Shutt) Kemerer. Prior to retirement, he had been a self-employed sales broker, and was a representative for the Deaton-Kennedy Co. Fred loved his garden and enjoyed family gatherings, going to the beach, a good martini, and a great steak. He was a very proud Navy veteran and served during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Kemerer; his son, Barry Kemerer; grandson, Ian Sagucio; several brothers and sisters; and his son-in-law, John "Jack" Petroy. He is survived by his wife, Elaine M. (McAleer) Kemerer; three daughters, Constance Ivory, of Pittsburgh, Rhonda Petroy (Lee), of Greensburg, and Lori Burruss (Marvin), of Greensburg; two stepsons, Jeffrey Wertz (Marge), of Latrobe, and Mark Wertz, of Latrobe; four stepdaughters, Theresa Wertz (Stacey), of Pittsburgh, Lori Wertz, of Pittsburgh, Amy Gurlea (Elba), of Virgin Islands, and Jen Wertz (Gary), of Pittsburgh; his son-in-law, Bill Ivory (Kim), of Greensburg; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Fred was the last surviving sibling in his family. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. John M. Smaligo officiating. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. Please be prepared to adhere to all current health guidelines, including face masks and social distancing. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Excela Health Home Care and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. "Old salesmen never die; they just go out of commission."
