Isla Ralph Obituary
Mary Isla (Kennedy) Ralph, 100, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in Redstone Highlands Greensburg. Born Aug. 26, 1918, in Turtle Creek, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Sullivan) Kennedy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Ralph; and her sister, Florence Kennedy. Surviving her are four children, Mary Ellen Kennedy Ralph and her husband, Don Marcucci, Frank W. Ralph and his wife, Sharon, of Allison Park, George "Gary" Ralph and his wife, Susan, of North Huntingdon, and Isla Jane Ralph and her husband, Buzz Grimm, of North Versailles. Also surviving her are five grandchildren, Emily Ralph, Mary Ralph, Jonathan Grimm, Heather Marcucci and Michael Ralph; brother-in-law, Albert Ralph and his wife, Bernie, of North Huntingdon; brother-in-law, Tom Whelan, of East Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Emily Ralph, of Sarasota, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Isla met her future husband, Frank, while working at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. Prior to retirement, Isla was employed as an accounting clerk for North Huntingdon Township. She was a member of St. Agnes Church of North Huntingdon, its Emerald Club and its Catholic Daughters of America, and the Oak Hollow Senior Citizens Center. She also served as an officer of the Friends of the Norwin Public Library and, most importantly, as tonsorial (or hair) advisor to all. For the 15 years preceding her husband's death in 1995, Isla and Frank traveled throughout the country and spent as much time as possible enjoying their mountain property near High Point Lake. Although Alzheimer's began to steal Isla's memories in 2001, it could never rob her of her kindness, her grace, her generosity or her spirit. Affectionately known as "Little Bear," Isla was a joyous person of deep faith and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Friends and family gathered to celebrate this remarkable woman on her 100th birthday in August.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. Parting prayers will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Agnes Church. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
