Joseph V. Ponzetti Jr., 68, of Jeannette, died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at home. He was born Dec. 17, 1952, in Merced, Calif., a son of the late Joseph V. Sr. and Ethel Jean (Cook) Ponzetti. Prior to retirement, he owned and operated Ponzetti's Flowers and Gifts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Teresa Ann and Ethel Jean; and an aunt, Shirley Mae Maline. He is survived by his partner, Darrell Welsh; Joe's wife, Kathy; three sons, Joseph V. Ponzetti III and his wife, Jennifer, Aaron Ponzetti and Domenick Ponzetti and his wife, Sarah; five grandchildren, Olivia, Alexandria, Joseph IV, Dominico and Lorenzo; a sister, Nelvia Novak and her husband, Tim; two brothers, William Ponzetti and his wife, Dorrain, and Anthony Ponzetti and his wife, Sandy; special cousins, Dee and Bob Houser; a sister-in-law, Shirley Welsh; numerous nieces and nephews and his pets, Sissy and Lucky. Joe was a member of Ascension Church and loved his family, including the family he made at Monsour Hospital and his deck crew friends. Friends will be received Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 North First St., Jeannette. Please be prepared to follow all current CDC guidelines. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 8 at 11 a.m. in Ascension Church. Everyone please meet at the church. Joe donated his lungs to the Simmons Center at UPMC for the study of pulmonary fibrosis, so, in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to them, with a check made out to the University of Pittsburgh or a
